About Us

Since our founding in 1890, Ascension has served as a place of sanctuary and celebration for the people of North Minneapolis. Just as we welcomed Irish immigrants into our community over 100 years ago, today our diverse congregation welcomes the peoples of Latin America, Africa, South Asia, and just about everywhere else in the world, while of course remaining home to the many people who have worshiped here for generations.

We chose the phrase “Life in Abundance” to try to capture and express the flourishing vitality of our community. While that expression gives you a flavor, to get the true meaning of Ascension we encourage you to come to one of our lively masses, tour or volunteer in our school, or come to one of our parish events. We know you will be back.
